I have tried the free version of Grammarly. It does help correct some grammar problem however, it also misses some. The Grammarly Plagiarism checker is okay. Although, it often finds plagiarism were there is none and sometimes when you are paraphrasing it claims to have found plagiarism in a completely unrelated article from the one you are paraphrasing.
I purchased a monthly subscription for the White Smoke program. It helped raise the grades on my college English essays from 70% to 90%. White Smoke does find most errors but, it also finds errors where there are none. You must examine each error to insure that it is not a false positive. If you follow the suggestions for every single error White Smoke finds you will end up with new errors. The one thing I do not like is the monthly subscription. I am unsure how to contact the good people at White Smoke to cancel it now that the semester is over. One other drawback is that you must be online to use the White Smoke program.

  2. Another advantage of Grammarly is you can use it on Linux platforms while unfortunately it is not supported by whitesmoke. Whitesmoke sometimes has an issue with copy and paste texts to its platform and unfortunately sometimes deletes the texts while you can’t recover them by CRTL+Z.

  3. Hi there,

You’ve got a number of typos here! Just a couple of them…

Plagiarism checker: Grammarly has an advanced plagiarism checker which that checks any traces of your copy being present elsewhere on the web; an extremely SEO friendly feature. [which that]

It highlights your passive voice, tell you to correct the form of writing for example the difference between Twitter and twitter, sentence structure and errors in the common usage of commas and apostrophe. [tell you][missing comma after “writing” and “example.”

    Hello Ankit

Really an interesting article. I am not sure about whitesmoke. But I am sure about Grammarly, I am also using it’s premium version from last 6 months and we can check our documents for plagiarized sentences too. Premium Grammarly is really smart and so worth it with a lot of extra features.
    Thanks for your article.

Using Grammarly for about 3 months so far. I’m not a native English speaker, and have to say it saved me from many embarrassing moments.
